Media Information

By BigB - Posted on 24 August 2008

This year's event has grown to new levels of success and it has not even started.
We have been contacted by many media outlets, far beyond any previous year. Therefore we found it prudent to put this thread in place to explain to all interested media forms just what they need to know.

First all media credentials will be available from the Route 66 Wings and Wheels booth which will be located on the corner of First Street and Beale Street. All media personnel will be required to sign in and sign the event waiver sheet. This can all be arranged prior to the event or as early as Friday the 19th at the site of the event. You will be given special access passes and identification necessary to be in restricted area's. We would ask that you follow all event staff directions at all times. Please notify our staff should you have any need for assistance in setting up equipment. We would like to extend our sincere appreciation for your coverage of the event and if we can be of any assistance at any time do not hesitate to request it.

We have conformation of Fox Sport Network Arizona's "Motorsports Mania" filming this years event to televise the following weekend.

As of yesterday we have conformation of "Speed Scene TV" will be filming the event also.

For those of you who may not know our very own Alan Linn aka "Bubba" will again be photographing the event and we again will have Delia assisting with her wonderful photography too. It is with great pleasure that we can also inform you that the legendary Tim Marshall will once again join our team of photographers. Tim has photographed so many historical events that it is an honor to have him back again.

Many magazine's will be present to cover this years event and we hope that everyone will make these media representatives feel very good about Kingman and our Historic Event.

Hi Brian, It is amazing how things have changed in just a few years. At the street drags two I could not even get close to the track, then for street drags three it was Tim and myself taking photos with Retorq broadcasting it live on the Internet. Then on street drags four Delia joined us, and now for street drags five we have still photos, Internet broadcasting, and TV shows. I'm betting that street drags six there will be helicopters filming from above with it being sent live all over the United States and maybe the world Whoo Hoo.... I was wondering, are there any photos of the street drags one or two? It would be fun to see how it was back then. I guess I better go get a haircut and manicure for this year...

Good morning --
I am preparing a freelance piece on this event for a client and would like permission to use fotos from your site -- what would be useful would be for you to identify 3-4 that are instructive, with caption information. I can be reached at 928.486.1767 or by return e-mail. I left a fone message for Brian last week but haven't heard back.
Respectfully,

Hi Stan, Sorry about the slow reply, I did not notice your message. If you send me your email address I can attach some photos from the last Kingman street drags for ya. As for information about them I'm no help at all. I can't even get the makes of the cars right let alone the years of them, I just take the photos.

Way back when I first got involved, Dan had given me VCR tapes of #1 and #2 ... not sure if we have stills ... Smiling

I doubt my car will be ready so stop asking!!

Hello Bubba,

I was speaking to Mary about writing an article regarding the upcoming Kingman Street Drags V! Do you have any pictures from last year that I could use for the article?

Our publication is distributed weekly throughout Mohave and La Paz counties; so I hope to get alot of publicity for your event.

Thanks,

Hi Vicki,

Sure I have 329 photos that I shot and I also have 336 photos that my shooting partner Delia took from last year. Retorq also has the CD's If you would like I can make a copy of mine for ya. Or if you can use a smaller photo file you can save some from the Wings and Wheels site from the photo and video page. http://www.route66wingsandwheels.com/index.php?page=9 You are more than welcome to use my photos, I can check with Delia about using her photos.

Let me know what you would like me to do. Thanks very much for helping us with getting the word out about the drags and for wanting to use my photos Smiling

Alan,

Do you think you could just send me two or three of YOUR favorite pics. (300dpi) You know, those pics that gets peoples' attention! I would like to do a couple of articles or announcements before the event.

Thanks,
Vicki
