Thanks for Kingman Street Drags 6

By DragNuts.com - Posted on 21 September 2009

I wanted to thank the staff for a great time at the Kingman Street Drags 6. You guys are a class act and wished I had the opportunity thank each of you personally. Your whole crew should pat yourself on the back for a job well done with such a huge event to coordinate. I would like to give special thanks to Jack Wells. He is a true gentleman and went out of his way to assist our group before and during the event. Mike Miner for finding our pit on Spring Street and calling us to the staging lanes. Finally thanks to Brian who I still have not met formally but we at least were able to say hello in passing just prior to going down the track. Once again, a BIG THANK YOU to all of you from DragNuts.com.

I also wanted to add that this event was a great opportunity to meet NEW friends like Dan & Nancy Cargill (awesome people). Ross Linneen, my brother from a parallel universe who built a (rare) 1948 Austin Devon remarkably similar to mine, at the same time and completing builds in the same month as each other. I was also able to re-connect with old friends like Scott Bisel who has one of the sickest little blue Chevy Luv Trucks around. This makes the long drive worth it and makes lasting memories.

P.S. Below is a link to some photos that my son took at the event. If your car is in any of these photos and you want a hi-resolution JPG, email me and I would be glad to send it to you. http://dragnuts.ning.com/photo/albums/kingman-street-drags-6

Thanks for coming, nice pics. I remember Mike V, one of the techs, saying that black Camaro was one of the nicest he's ever seen.

I doubt my car will be ready so stop asking!!

Thanks, I will be sure to tell Rob from RJ Fabrication that. Believe it or not he fabed that car in high school. That paint job is 13 years old... He is very talented at what he does. You should see the Nova he is doing for me. Here is the photo link to the Nova: http://dragnuts.ning.com/photo/albums/my-71-chevy-nova
Hereis another link to a Valliant he is doing right now... Wow, the fab work is stellar: http://dragnuts.ning.com/photo/albums/68-plymouth-valliant
It was great meeting you out there... I feel like an idiot, you told me your real name and i forgot. I dont want to call you "retorq" for ever.. LOL.
:jawdrop:

My real name is Stephen, although there are people that call me and introduce me as Retorq. Wink

I doubt my car will be ready so stop asking!!

I love the 'bolt in' subframe on that Nova ... slick setup. :jawdrop:

Rob designed it to where the subframe can come off and get powder coated. Even the wheel tubs & panels come off for powder coating. We are hoping that next year we can put the Nova in Drag week. Only if the money is there. He has done some pretty trick fab work on the Nova. However, that Valiant, his latest creation has much more bad ass stuff done.... I'm jealous

oh on another note, I have joined the wings and wheels a couple of times as DragNuts.com and it kicks me off and calls me a bot :?

Yeah there are some conditions that will trigger that. I'll look into it and pull them. It happened to Trophy Girl Mom too. Ahahahaha

Okay, cool. Let me know.

Do you get the "Sorry, bot post detected, user account deleted, post dropped." error on your first post??

YES

Hey John I know we have never gotten that official intro , but I was sporting one cool hat all weekend thanks to you my friend !!!
Glad to have you guys here and we will have to get that face to face here soon
I couldn't agree with you more on the quality and diversity of the rides we get here for the street drags. This is so much a cliche but it just gets bigger and better every time. And when I talk to people who just came for the first time the are just blown away. I know we all kind of feel prejudice because we have all put so much into it but it makes us all feel so good to see the real smile on peoples faces when they say that they will definitely be back and they had a blast !!
Thanks again for coming and all the great comments and specially the new hat Wink

Hi Brian, thank your guys! If I lived closer, I would get involved and help out. I put on a local cruise night in Victorville every Thurs and have a small taste of what you guys are up against. I heard a few (only a few) people comment that KSD6 was not well organized. They must not have any idea how hard it would be to accomplish what you, your staff & volunteers did. We used to complain about our local drag strip (LACR) all the time until they closed it. Thinking back, that was an awesome track. It was cheap to race there, you hooked up, you could make several passes in a night, they had Bernie Burgers (LOL) and etc. Now those days are gone for good. I hope that KSD continues to thrive and I will continue to spread the good word about KSD in the years to come. KUDOS!

I didn't get no hat ... I did get a cool business card at registration though.

I doubt my car will be ready so stop asking!!

It was great having you folks there. Sorry I didn't find you on Spring Street until a little later but it seemed to all work out. You guys were great and I look forward to seeing you next year.
PS. I wouldn't mind a hat also .... Wink

It worked out because of guys like you... Thanks again mike! LOL, you guys are killing me with the hat thing. :jawdrop: Get back to me in a couple of weeks. I am leaving town for a bit. I may take my Nova to Drag Week next year and I believe you have your event around the same time. If not, I am coming back for the win! He He He

Take care my friend/s

John
